GAC’s electric sub-brand is making its way to Malaysia with WTC Automotif having signed a distribution and service agreement with GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Company Limited (GAC Aion). WTC Automotif is already an official distributor for GAC in Malaysia.
In a press statement by WTC Automotif, the company said, “This marks an exciting chapter in WTCA’s journey. The agreement will provide both parties with the opportunity to cooperate and study potential business opportunities to expand their respective Group’s foothold in the automotive industry in Malaysia.”

“This agreement affirms the Group’s unwavering commitment to meeting its customers’ diverse needs by delivering wider product range and more efficient service quality. It is also a testament to the company’s dedication to Economic, Environmental, Social, and Governance (EESG) principles, aligning with its objective of achieving long-term sustainable business growth.”
GAC’s Aion’s model lineup includes cars like the Aion S Plus, Aion V Plus, and Aion Y Plus. Recently spotted in camouflage in Malaysia is the GAC Aion S which is an electric compact saloon. Its sighting hints at an official debut that is around the corner.

The Aion S Plus is about the size of the Honda Civic and depending on its variant, its range can go up to 602 km on the NEDC test cycle. A single electric motor provides up to 204 hp (metric) and 350 Nm, resulting in a 6.8-second 0-100 km/h acceleration time.
As for the GAC brand itself, there is only one offering in Malaysia right now which is the GAC GS3 compact SUV. It is about the size of the Perodua Ativa and it is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that churns out 114 hp (metric) and 150 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels only via a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Aisin.
