BMW iX2 and all-new X2 unveiled – 449km range, optional 22kW AC charging

BMW has unveiled its latest addition to its fully-electric lineup and it is the BMW iX2. Of course, with the introduction of the iX2, the company has also introduced an all-new version of the BMW X2. According to the company, the X2/iX2 is a Sports Activity Coupe, and upon its premiere there are 4 versions of the car:

  • iX2 xDrive30
  • X2 sDrive20i
  • X2 sDrive18d
  • X2 M35i xDrive

At the front, the BMW X2/iX2 looks largely similar to the BMW X1/iX1, albeit with design cues that make it look wider. The kidney grille design is wider and sports a more hexagonal look with pointy edges towards the sides. The hexagonal grille can be specified to be equipped with the BMW Iconic Glow. Also optional on the car are Adaptive LED Headlights.

From the A-pillar backwards is where the X2 becomes even more distinguishable from the X1/iX1. The roofline is sportier and flows into the rear end. The rear section of the car sports prominently flared wheel arches and “muscular” shoulders. The taillight design is something new for BMW and may take some time to digest.

Overall, the BMW X2/iX2 measures 4,554 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,590 mm tall. It has groen 194 mm longer, 21 mm wider, and 64 mm taller. Its wheelbase is also now longer, as well as its track.

Inside, the BMW X2/iX2 sports a twin display, just like its fellow brand models. The head unit runs on the latest BMW Operating System 9. BMW says that the X2 and iX2’s cabin takes design cues from the BMW iX and key features include the slender instrument panel, which serves as a stage for the BMW Curved Display, and a “floating” armrest with an integral control panel between the driver’s seat and front passenger seat.

Speaking of the seats, the X2/iX2’s seats are newly developed seats with “optimised long-distance comfort and extended functionality”. There are also optional sports seats with more prominent bolsters on the sides.

As for powertrain options the BMW X2 comes with three petrol options while the iX comes with one all-electric option. The basic technical specifications of the iX2 xDrive30 are as such:
