Acura Electric Vision teased – Is this our first look at the next-gen NSX?

Together with the unveiling of the revived Acura ZDX, Acura is now teasing its Acura Electric Vision Design study, which will make its debut the Monterey Car Week. Sporting a supercar-like silhouette in the heavily-shadowed teaser images, the Electric Vision Design study might just be our first glance at the next-generation Acura/Honda NSX.

Based on the teased front profile, front three-quarter shot, and close-up of the taillights, we can see a totally new design language by Acura/Honda which draws little resemblance with the Honda e:N2 electric concept car that was unveiled in late 2022, especially with its thin LED light strips. One could even say that it looks like the Porsche Mission X concept car given the overall profile and rear-end design.

Similar-looking concept vehicles aside, the Acura Electric Vision Design study perhaps hints at the design of the next-generation Acura/Honda NSX. The second-generation NSX reached the end of its line in late 2021 with a fitting farewell with the NSX Type S.

In a report in August 2021, it was hinted that a next-generation all-electric NSX was a possible outcome. Speaking to The Drive in an interview, Acura Vice President and Brand Officer Jon Ikeda said, “If you notice, we make an NSX when there’s something we want to say. The first-gen was gas. Second-gen was a hybrid. There’s gonna be another one.”

It took Honda 10 years to revive the NSX from its first generation to the second generation, so a third-generation all-electric NSX might not be happening so soon. But with hints of it becoming electric and with Acura about to reveal its Electric Vision Design Study, this might just be our first glimpse at the distant-future third-generation NSX.

On the Electric Vision Design Study, Acura executive creative director, Dave Marek said, “Our Acura design team in Los Angeles is dreaming up the future of Acura Precision Crafted Performance in the EV era. This latest expression of an all-electric high-performance model is inspiring everyone in our studio to push the boundaries and we wanted to share the fun with our Acura fans.”
