First revealed earlier this year, the 2023 Mazda 2 facelift has now been launched in Thailand in both hatchback and sedan forms – the latter making its global debut in the Land of Smiles.
Like its hatchback counterpart, the new 2023 Mazda 2 Sedan will offer customers two distinct front ends to choose from – the first “New Wave Design” option features an EV-like closed off panel for its grille, while the “Sport Design” variant gets a sporty race car inspired mesh grille.
For a bit of fun, Mazda has also added a small colour accent trim on the grille (plus rear bumper for the hatchback) for both variants, with a variety of hue options available for customers to personalise.
Together with the different colour options for the wheels, roof, wing mirrors, and interior upholstery, Mazda Thailand says that there’ll be a total of 83 different possible combinations for customers to choose from. And if that’s not enough, Mazda Thailand is also offering two special editions, dubbed Rookie Drive and Clap Pop, each with their own colour themes and decals to further spice up the exterior styling.
Inside, the dashboard of the new 2023 Mazda 2 is largely unchanged from before, although it now gets colour-matched panels and on certain variants, unique textiles, to match the extravagant exterior colours.
The free-standing touchscreen infotainment display atop the dashboard has also increased in size to now an eight-inch panel, although it’s still powered by the same old Mazda Connect software – fortunately still with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The Mazda 2 continues to be offered with two unchanged powertrain options in Thailand, the first being a 1.3-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, making 93 hp and 123 Nm of torque.
On the other end of the spectrum is a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill that serves up 105 hp and 250 Nm. Both engines are paired exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing for the Mazda 2 in Thailand ranges from THB599,000 (approx. RM80k) to THB830,000 (approx. RM111k) for both the sedan and hatchback models.
Closer to home, the outgoing pre-facelift 2020 model is priced from RM103,670, although we do get a different 1.5-litre SkyActiv-G naturally-aspirated mill compared to our neighbours up North.
