Malaysia-assembled CKD Porsche Cayenne reaches 1,000-unit milestone

The 1,000th locally-assembled CKD Porsche Cayenne has now rolled off the production line, just a little over a year since production of the luxury SUV begun at the Inokom assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah. The production achievement marks an important milestone for Porsche Malaysia and Sime Darby Auto Performance, as it is the first local assembly facility for the marque outside of Europe.

Commenting on the achievement, Sime Darby Auto Performance CEO, Christopher Hunter said, “We are very pleased to reach this milestone with the locally assembled Cayenne, affirming once again that the Porsche SUV remains a favourite with our customers. Our local assembly facility in Inokom continues to support our growth, to meet the demand from sports car fans in Malaysia.”

“This growth in demand also speaks volumes about our high quality – proof that a Porsche is built to the highest standards,” he added.

The local assembly facility highlights the importance of the Malaysian market for Porsche, and further affirms the long-standing partnership between Porsche and Sime Darby. In addition, the programme also helps empower the local community and automotive industry, as it continues to be 100% staffed by highly-skilled Malaysians.

The Porsche Cayenne recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. Here in Malaysia, it’s offered in one single variant, powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine that sends 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

Customers can however choose from a range of accessories and options for the locally assembled Cayenne, including from lifestyle-oriented Tequipment accessory line-up, as well as the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Package that adds the SportDesign exterior trim, plus a unique Sport exhaust system, among others.

The locally-assembled Porsche Cayenne is available to order, starting from RM550,000 before insurance and options.
