Toyo Tyres today unveiled the new Proxes Sport 2 here in Malaysia, a new ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyre offering that promises improved handling performance and wet traction over its predecessor.
Offered in 31 sizes ranging from 18- to 20-inches in diameter, The company says that the new Toyo Proxes Sport 2 will be compatible with a variety of vehicles from C- to F-segment classes, especially those with “high torque powertrains”. Pricing for the new Proxes Sport 2 ranges from RM700 to RM1,300 per tyre, depending on size.
The aforementioned improvements come courtesy of Toyo’s latest tyre technologies, including a new advanced asymmetrical tread compound, which is softer on the inside to increase contact surface, and harder on the outside to reduce rib deformation under heavy loads.
The tread pattern also features a new asymmetrical rib layout and what the company calls “dynamic taper design”, both to increase traction during hard braking, and handling feel while cornering, in all conditions.

At the launch event today, Toyo Tyres also brought along its recently launched Open Country A/T III for members of the media to sample. The new all-terrain tyre features a new aggressive tread pattern with increased lateral grooves for improved off-road traction, while also prioritising on-road comfort at the same time, thanks to the company’s proprietary T-Mode and Nano Balance technology.
The Toyo Open Country A/T III is now available at Toyo Centres nationwide in 14 sizes, with prices ranging from RM500 to RM1,200 each.
