Toyo Tyres has launched the new Proxes CR1 tyre in Malaysia today. The latest entry-level model in the Proxes range – which replaces the Nano Energy 3 – is available in both standard and SUV variants, and is suitable for passenger cars and SUVs of all variants.
Toyo says that the Proxes CR1 is developed specifically with noise levels, safety, and comfort in mind. On the sound levels, the CR1 features what Toyo calls “silent wall”, along with an “out-in” pitch arrangement on the treads to disperse noise in each area. A noise protection sheet is also incorporated within the construction of the tyre to reduce casing noise.
On the safety front, Toyo says that the Proxes CR1’s four wide circumferential grooves help drain water quickly, ensuring the contact patch is providing the maximum amount of grip in the wet. On dry roads, the tripe taper and rib design increases rigidity and suppresses circumferential fluctuation which minimises uneven wear.
Additionally, the multi-wave sipes also helps enhancing block stiffness, thus reducing of irregular wear, while a joint-less cap ply
improves high speed performance. Meanwhile, the sidewall is made from a new compound which reduces rolling resistance, thus aiding efficiency.
The Toyo Proxes CR1 was also developed using the company’s T-mode computer simulations and Nano Balance material technologies, which helps the engineers simulate real-world conditions to help improve comfort levels on the new tyres. Overall, Toyo claims that the Proxes CF1 produces 11% less road noise and a 2% reduction in aquaplaning as compared to the Nano Energy 3.

The new Toyo Proxes CR1 tyres is available in sizes ranging from 14- to 18-inches in diameter for the passenger car variants, and 17- to 19-inch rim diameter for the SUV variants. Prices for the Proxes CR1 passenger car tyres range from RM160 to RM440, and RM380 to RM580 for the SUV range, depending on tyre size.
The new tyres are now available at Toyo Centres and Silverstone Centres nationwide. In conjunction with the launch, customers who purchase a set of four Toyo Proxes CR1 tyres will also receive a free limited edition Proxes CR1 umbrella, while stocks last.
