Bosch donates RM50k worth of facility upgrades to Yayasan Sunbeams Home

Bosch Malaysia has contributed RM50,000 worth of facility upgrades to Yayasan Sunbeams Home (YSH), a non-profit children’s home. This contribution was done as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The project covers the library makeover with interior design, new furniture, and a library system to manage over 2,000 book titles. Other parts of the learning centre were also refurbished, with its flooring replaced, and its bathrooms and ceilings repaired.

Bosch Malaysia managing director, Klaus Landhaeusser said, “We aim to be a socially conscious, value-based corporation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of people from all backgrounds. Education can change lives, and is an important CSR pillar at Bosch. This made YSH our ideal CSR partner.”

Founded in 1995, YSH is a non-profit and self-sufficient foundation providing shelter, medical care, and education to children who suffered abuse, neglect, or loss of a parent. Bosch Malaysia, driven by its “Invented for life” ethos, shares YSH’s vision to improve people’s quality of life and supports the mission to provide a conducive home for children in need.

YSH is also home to 104 children, aged 2 to 18 years old at both its homes in Kuala Lumpur and Alor Gajah, Melaka. It calls for fundraising efforts through its ongoing RM1A Day Campaign to support the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

YSH pastor and founder, Alvin Tan Ooi Seng said, “Working with Bosch was a fantastic experience and exposure for us. Beyond the renovation works, we learned about Bosch products, values, culture, and policies. We are impressed with their code of conduct and high professionalism. These are the kinds of adults which I hope our children will grow into when they leave YSH.”

“The library is just the first milestone of our relationship. In the future, Bosch wishes to go beyond the present initiative, increasing our efforts to explore different ways to support the kids such as providing the children life skills workshops and other engaging activities with direct involvement of Bosch associates,” added Landhaeusser.
