First official image of Polestar 3 SUV released!

After revealing the production-ready design of the Polestar 5 four-door grand tourer (GT), Polestar has shared the first official image of the Polestar 3, but covered in camouflage.

Unlike the current Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 models that are made in China, Polestar 3 will be fully manufactured in the US, at the Volvo Cars plant in Charleston, South Carolina. The next-generation Volvo XC 90 will also be made here, next year.

“Polestar 3 will be built in America, for our American customers,” says CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath. The performance electric SUV segment is constantly seeing new additions, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-e, BMW iX as well as the upcoming new-generation Porsche Macan.

Cryptocurrency? Nope. Polestar is instead accepting art pieces as a payment method for their products. More here.

Ingenlath hosted investors and press at a series of events in New York to discuss the company’s vision, brand and growth plans. The audience learned that Polestar 3 is intended to be one of the most climate-responsible cars ever made and will in time offer autonomous highway piloting powered by the best-in-class LiDAR (light detection and ranging) sensor from Luminar and centralised NVIDIA computing power plus a next-generation electric vehicle architecture from Volvo Car Group.

As for the design of the Polestar 3, we can see the front design having similar features to the Polestar 2, but without the intricate grille pattern.

In the coming three years, Polestar plans to launch one new electric vehicle per year, starting with this Polestar 3 in 2022 – the company’s first electric performance SUV. Polestar 4 is expected to follow in 2023, a smaller electric performance SUV coupe.

The earlier revealed Polestar 5 electric performance four-door GT is planned to be launched in 2024. Polestar’s current sales network is incredibly limited, but the company has plans to increase its retail presence in line with the product expansion.
