As part of Renault’s new strategic plan called the Renaulution which will take place in the next five years, the company has introduced the Renault 5 Prototype. It’s a throwback to the old Renault 5 Turbo with a modern twist, as it will return as an electric car.
14 models will be launched by 2025 (seven electric and seven C/D segment vehicles) and among them is the Renault 5 Prototype which will surely be welcomed seeing how well the new Honda e has been received. The company is also expecting its higher end models to make up 40% of its sales by the same year.
Renault is referring to it as a “cute, pin-sized, city car taking one of Renault’s timeless success to the future with a modern, 100% electric twist”.
Only several details of the prototype was revealed; it will feature aero flaps on the rear lights, with the fog lamps in the bumper doubling up as daytime running lights – like the new Mitsubishi Xpander in Malaysia.
In paying tribute to the original car, the number 5 is featured by the doors, tailgate and even front fog lamp housing.
