Following the launch of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe last year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now launched the performance variant of the Coupe-styled SUV, GLC 43 4Matic Coupe, here in Malaysia.
Unlike the outgoing model, the facelifted 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is assembled locally (CKD) here in Malaysia, which means that the performance SUV enjoys quite a significant price drop. Paired with the sales tax exemptions which are applicable until the end of the year, the new GLC 43 Coupe is priced at RM498,723 on-the-road without insurance, which represents a savings of more than RM80,000!
The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine underneath the hood has been revamped to now produce 390 hp (+23 hp) and 520 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, paired to an ninespeed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox.
Curiously though, the 0-100 km/h time of the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe remains identical to the outgoing model at 4.9 seconds, despite the increase in power output. Top speed is also identical, electronically-limited to 250 km/h.
The new sporty SUV rides on AMG Ride Control+ air suspension on all four corners, which is based on the Air Body Control air suspension but with AMG-specific Adaptive Damping System. As is standard on an AMG model, the GLC 43 Coupe also comes with the Dynamic Select drive mode select system, with the addition of a variable-ratio speed-sensitive steering as standard to further enhance the driving feel.
In terms of appearance, the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe takes on the updated styling of the GLC 300 Coupe with AMG Line exterior pack, with a couple of AMG-specific styling elements tacked on. These include Panamericana grille up front, quad round tailpipe exits at the rear, and 21-inch five-twin-spoke two-tone alloy wheels all round.
Just like the GLC300, the AMG-variant also received an overhaul on the inside, with the main highlight being the new 10.25-inch infotainment display with the latest MBUX infotainment software, paired to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
AMG-specific touches include a meaty AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa microfibre, red contrast topstitching on the upholstery, Designo Red seatbelts, and AMG-specific displays on the MBUX system.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 AMG also now comes with the Driving Assistance advanced driver assist package, which includes features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitor, and a 360-degree around view monitor.
Once again, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe is priced at RM498,723 on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of sales tax exemptions. With Mercedes-Benz Financial Malaysia’s Agility Financing Plan, the GLC 43 Coupe can be yours starting from RM4,987 per month, based on a 28% downpayment and a tenure of five years.
