There’s never a dull moment in the life of Elon Musk. If we draw comparisons based on the pompous remarks he shares on Twitter, Musk is almost like the Donald Trump of the auto world – just less destructive too.
And it seems there’s never a dull moment when you’re sharing a life with Musk either. If you’ve been online in the past couple days, you’d know that the Musk family has welcomed a baby boy. It’s all merry until you find out what Musk has decided to name the boy.
He’s called X Æ A-12. Firstly, it’s not a typo and secondly, the newborn isn’t an extra-terrestrial so you must be wondering, what on earth has Musk been smoking and what does it actually mean.
On Twitter, Musk’s wife shared, “X is the unknown variable, Æ is her “elven way” of spelling Artificial Intelligence and A-12 represents two things.”
The A-12 is taken off the predecessor of the famous SR-71 Blackbird, the Lockheed A12. The Lockheed A12 was codenamed the “Archangel” during its development stages, which is also the name of her favourite metal band, Archangel.
Apparently both Elon Musk and missus are admirers of the Lockheed A-12 plane for its sheer speed. The plane was used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the US for spy missions in the 1960s.
“Just the speed without the weapons, great in battle but non-violent,” said Musk’s spouse.
What an eccentric bunch huh? And I thought nicknames from actual words like “Ocean” or “Pristine” were bizarre.
