Shortly after introducing the 2020 model update for the FK8 Civic Type R, Honda has announced a limited-edition, street legal, track-focused version for the U.S market.
The lighter and faster model which will arrive in America later this year, will feature all of the 2020 model year updates such as the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance systems.
The limited edition model not only sports a new Phoenix Yellow paint job and lightweight forged aluminium wheels from BBS but has also experienced a 28 pound (12.7kg) weight loss from reduced sound deadening materials.
The rear wipers, tonneau cover and rear heater ducts have also been removed, all in the name of weight reduction. Aside from the new exterior colour and wheels, the Civic can also be distinguished with contrasting gloss black paint on the roof, side mirror caps and intake vents on the hood.
The 600-unit limited run model with individual serial number plates also come with specially-tuned dampers and recalibrated steering for better feedback and control.
Pricing details have yet to be confirmed although Honda says it will be revealed closer to its launch.
