Video: McLaren GT, 5 Things

It has opened up a new line of vehicles for McLaren under the GT series and will go head-to-head with the Aston Martin DB11, Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Ferrari Portofino – this is the all-new McLaren GT.

Based on the 720S, it’s powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8, with an astronomical 620 hp and 630 Nm to solely drive the rear wheels. As a result, it simply annihilates the 0 to 100 km/h run in just 3.2 seconds!

According to McLaren Automotive Asia Pacific and China’s Managing Director, George Biggs, McLaren’s GT series vehicles are designed to offer the best driving experience in any grand tourers while providing ample space for luggage, not so much for passengers and 4-door versions and SUVs are not in the pipeline.

Without the rear seats – which are usually non-functional on other grand touring cars anyways according to Biggs, the Woking-based carmaker was able to push the luggage capacity of the McLaren GT up to a class-leading total storage space of 570 litres – in a supercar!
