Nissan expands recall for models affected by defective Takata airbags



There’s no other way to say this; if you own a Nissan vehicle in Malaysia, please refer to the tables below and take action immediately if your vehicle is affected by Takata airbag inflators that could pose a threat to you or your passenger when they are triggered.

Expanded recall for Nissan models for August 2019.

A total of 11,917 units are being recalled this round and it involves three models; the D40 Navara pick-up (this covers the last gen model), Grand Livina MPV and X-Gear crossover. The current-generation NP300 Navara is not included in this recall.

Owners of Nissan vehicles affected by the airbag recall will be notified by letter and are urged to set up an appointment with the nearest Nissan authorised service outlet. Selected Nissan outlets also have extended operational hours and are open every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays to cope with the recall campaign.

As of June 2019, Tan Chong have replaced defective airbag inflators belonging to 99,670 vehicles, or 56% of those affected.
