When the BMW 7 Series underwent a mid-cycle update, or LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) if you speak BMW, GC Mah had a first taste in the BMW 750Li and 745Le in Faro, Portugal. Unfortunately, he did not spend too much time in the back seats of this tauke car because the 7 Series was too delightful behind the wheel.
While we do not get either of these variants in Malaysia, BMW Malaysia has just launched the locally assembled BMW 740Le xDrive plug-in hybrid decked out with all the latest tech and luxuries you can possibly want from a luxury limousine. That includes BMW Driving Assistant Professional, soft-close doors, BMW Live Cockpit Professional instrument cluster and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant voice command system.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged in-line 6 and electric motor on our local spec 740Le xDrive may not sound as exciting as the 4.4-litre V8 of the 750Li, the PHEV still generates a respectable system output of 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque.
