Volkswagen’s fleet of electric vehicles under the ID. family branding is set for market launch before the end of the year starting with the ID.3 hatchback. Ahead of its global debut, Volkswagen has assured the durability of its lithium-ion battery packs equipped on ID. vehicles with an 8-Year or 160,000 km warranty.

The high-capacity lithium-ion battery packs are able to deliver a WLTP range of 330 to 550 km depending on model variant and battery size. All batteries equipped on ID. models can accommodate high-speed charging of up to 125 kW which can recharge up to 260 km of range in 30 minutes.

In 2017, Volkswagen has set up a dedicated Centre of Excellence for battery development and are responsible for ensuring that all batteries can retain their maximum capacity over the vehicle’s lifetime. The company will guarantee that the batteries will retain at least 70% of their usable capacity even after eight years or 160,000 kilometres.
