Ford has just released first images of their Ford Focus ST in the wagon body style. The front-wheel drive hot hatch just got even more practical with a larger boot capacity, giving buyers a more versatile yet dynamic option in the wagon segment.

Like its hatchback twin, the Focus ST wagon can be had with the 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol or the 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbodiesel. The latter is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission while the EcoBoost mill offers the option for a 7-speed automatic.

Century sprint on the petrol-powered Focus ST wagon takes 5.8 seconds, just 0.1 seconds off the hatchback while top speed is similar between the two at 250 km/h. It’s the same case for the oil burner, with the wagon taking 7.7 seconds to the 100 km/h mark from standstill and a top speed registered at 220 km/h.

In the wagon, you get 608 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and expandable to 1,653 litres – that is significantly more spacious than the hatchback’s 375 litres. The extra space will definitely come in handy for long weekend outings or couples with a growing family.

That’s not to say the Focus ST wagon has gone all soft, features such as electronic limited-slip differential, rev-matching, Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD), Electronic Sound Enhancement (ESE) and selectable Drive Modes found on the hatchback are also available in the wagon.
