Geely has officially launched their first ever MPV, the Geely Jia Ji in their home country. At launch, the Jia Ji is offered with a conventional petrol engine, mild hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, making it the first ever hybrid powered MPV to be offered in China.
As detailed before, the Jia Ji can be had with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo TGDi with 183 hp/300 Nm, 1.5-litre turbocharged mild-hybrid (MHEV) with 190 hp/300 Nm or a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid with 258 hp/385 Nm. There is also an entry-level 1.5-litre turbo petrol that is available exclusively with a manual transmission.
Both the 1.5-litre MHEV and 1.5-litre PHEV gets a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (different set up to match the respective powertrains) while the 1.8-litre TGDi unit gets a conventional 6-speed automatic instead.
The 1.5-litre PHEV has a claimed pure electric range of 56 km on a full charge and when hooked onto a fast charger, it takes just 90 minutes for the battery to be fully recharged. Geely claims the Jia Ji PHEV can return a fuel consumption of 1.6L/100 km while the MHEV is rated at 5.9L/100 km.
The biggest selling point of the Jia Ji is the availability of Geely’s “360-degree security identification zone” advanced driving assistance technologies that gives the Jia Ji Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. The system bundles Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assistant (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assistant (LCA) and Speed Limit Identification (SLIF).
When condition permits, the Jia Ji can follow the vehicles in front up to speeds of 150 km/h and even perform lane change autonomously. Other driving assistant features include a 360-degree camera and Automated Park Assist (APA).
The Jia Ji is available in either a six- or seven-seater configuration with three seating options: 2+2+2, 2+2+3 or 2+3+2. Onboard features include full LCD instrument cluster, 12.3-inch floating widescreen infotainment panel, electronic gear selector, AQS air cleaner & ioniser, active noise cancellation, roof mounted controls with motion activated ceiling light, ambient lighting, intelligent cup-holder with cooling and heating function, panoramic sunroof and a touch panel control for the rear climate control.
