This Honda “Mean Mower” looks like a ridiculously exciting and scary ride!

Honda UK is out to re-write its own record for the world’s fastest lawn mower, previously set with the original Mean Mower in 2014, in the new Mean Mower V2.

Built by Team Dynamics, Honda’s British Touring Car Championship partner, the same team that built the original Mean Mower, development has moved on to a whole new level.

It now packs almost double the power and is estimated to reach in excess of 240 km/h – that’s a lawn mower we’re talking about! The original Mean Mower managed a top speed of “only 187 km/h”.

The Mean Mower is based on the Honda HF 2622 lawn tractor, with its front cowl, grass box and body panels still intact but it’s now fitted with a 999cc 4-cylinder engine taken out from Honda’s CBR 1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle.

While it’s still able to perform as a grass cutter, it’s now packs more than 192 hp and with the Mean Mower weighing just 70 kg, its power-to-weight ratio is more than 1000 hp per tonne. That’s more than the Bugatti Chiron at just 762 hp per tonne!

The suspension-less Mean Mower also retains the Fireblade’s 6-speed transmission, clutch, ECU and LCD display. Gear shifts are made with the carbon fibre paddle shifters on the steering wheel, where it would reach 144 km/h in first gear alone.

The all-important task of slowing down the 190 hp lawn mower is undertaken by four-piston callipers at the front and a six-piston unit at the rear. 10-inch ATV wheels have been deployed with custom Hoosier racing tyres to ensure that the Mean Mower stays on its tracks during its brutal acceleration.

The Mean Mower will be piloted by the gorgeous Jess Hawkins, an experienced kart and racer who is currently performing as a stunt driver in the Fast & Furious Live show. For more updates on the Mean Mower, follow Honda UK Power on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
