Would you use a Civic Type R as your daily driver?

Using a sportscar as your daily get-around can be quite taxing for some but the new Honda Civic Type R, has proven to be as docile as it is aggressive, for extended durations behind the wheel.

And it’s a trait that Red Bull Toro Rosso’s Formula 1 drivers, Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley can surely attest for, as both have opted for the Honda Civic Type R as their primary road car.

Dubbed the ‘race car for the road’, it holds the record for the fastest front-wheel drive car ever around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a lap time of 7 minutes 43.8 seconds.

Frenchman, Gasly, who received his new car last month commented, “I am very lucky to have a Type R as my daily car. I’m excited to try it out on the iconic Route Napoleon in the South of France, and maybe even on a racetrack where I will really be able to push the limit. As for Hartley, whose first ever road car was a 1996 Honda Civic said, “It’s a shame that I don’t get to drive it as much as I’d like due to the busy F1 schedule.”

Gasly added, “The interior is spacious, particularly the trunk, which is important for going to the airport with all the luggage I need to carry.”
