Lexus Malaysia introduces the new RX 350 L, now with 3 rows and 7-seats

Launched in the USA at the end of last year, the new RX 350 L is now available in Malaysia with a price of RM 475,000, the first ever variant of the RX in its 20-year history of the model to feature three rows and seven seats.

The new RX 350 L will now be part of the 2018 RX line up consisting of the RX 300, RX 350, RX 350 F SPORT and RX 450h Hybrid. Except the RX 350 L, all the other models will retain the two row/five-seater layout.

As with all Lexus models, the RX 350 L will feature the signature spindle grille up front flanked by slim LED headlights on either side. The lower section of the rear bumper now features a single tailpipe instead of the two that were on the RX 350 before.

Besides the blacked-out C-pillars that now creates a ‘floating-roof’ effect, the Lexus spindle theme repeats at the rear with L-shaped LED taillights enveloping the tailgate, stretching to the rear fenders.

More importantly, the new RX 350 L is now 110 mm longer while its roofline had been changed over the rear portion of the vehicle. The edge of the roof extends slightly further back and the angle of the rear window is now steeper, providing comfortable headroom for the occupants in the third row.

The third row comes with full-sized seats, providing the passengers with the same levels of comfort and luxury as those in the middle row. Access to the third row is provided with a lever that slides and folds the second-row seats forward for walk-in convenience.

The second row has 40/20/40 split backrests to provide cabin layout flexibility while the third row has power operation for seat adjustment. The RX 350 L also comes with a three-zone air conditioning system with separate controls for the rear occupants.

Performance wise, the RX 350 L comes with a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 289 hp with 358 Nm of torque. Variable Valve Timing – Intelligent Wide (VVT-iW) Variable Valve Timing is used on the intake camshaft, along with VVT-i on the exhaust camshaft. Power is delivered through an 8-speed automatic transmission with Drive Mode Select. The Drive Mode Select systems offer three driving modes – Normal, Sport S and ECO.

The RX 300 variants in the 2018 range are identical to the RX 200t variants sold before – with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 235 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The RX 300 is available in Premium, Luxury and F Sport variants with prices ranging from RM388,800 to RM422,900.

There are seven colours to choose from where the paint used contains high-performance macromolecular polymer which gives a scratch-resistant self-restoring coat for a long-lasting finish. All new models sold by Lexus Malaysia come with a comprehensive factory warranty of 5 years with unlimited mileage.
