So long and goodbye, WRX STI – Subaru UK launches the Final Edition

Whether it’s on a rally course or simply on the tarmac of our roads, the Subaru Impreza is a stature instantly recognisable with its signature rumble and iconic blue paint/gold rims combination. It’s sad that due to regulations and lack of demand, these things aren’t as prominent on our roads as they used to be back in the 1990’s all the way up to the mid-2000’s.

To commemorate the end of its modern incarnation, the WRX STI, Subaru UK has just launched the WRX STI Final Edition – to mark the end of an era of glorious Boxer melody.

On the outside, wheel size has been increased to 19-inches to house the new, larger Brembo brakes with yellow calipers. The front bumper features larger openings for improved cooling. The Subaru wing design which flows through to the C-shaped headlights has been incorporated, hinting at the Boxer engine under the bonnet.

The front end is also fitted with bi-functional projector LED lights with a single bulb enabling High Beam Assist, which operates via a single lens camera installed in the front windscreen – allowing high and low beams to be switched automatically.

Inside, the Final Edition comes with an electronic-controlled Multi-Mode Driver’s Control Centre Differential (DCC), an upgrade from the old mechanical unit. High gloss black inserts have been fitted to the instrument panel, gear stick surround, door panels and steering wheel.

Strictly limited to just 150 units, the WRX STI retails at £33,995 (RM 224k). Goodbye scooby, you will be sorely missed.
