Volkswagen Automotive Academy opens in Glenmarie, focused on local talent development

Ever since Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) took over the distribution of Volkswagen cars in Malaysia in September 2016, the management’s primary focus was to rebuild and revitalise the seemingly deteriorating brand image. Last year, VPCM kept their word by introducing a 5-Years manufacturer backed warranty on all new Volkswagen models as well as the DSG Goodwill programme.

Today, VPCM is taking another step in improving the brand’s sales and aftersales with the official launch of the Volkswagen Automotive Academy. Strategically located at the automotive hub of Klang Valley – Glenmarie, Shah Alam, the new Academy covers 14,117 square feet and is able to accommodate up to 150 trainees a day.

With a “significant investment”, the academy is equipped with four work bays, two technical service centre, multipurpose hall, six individual classrooms and a variety of modern equipment. These tools and equipment are certified by Volkswagen AG and are specifically catered to the Malaysian market.

At the academy, Volkswagen dealers and personnel’s will undergo intensive training on Volkswagen products and services taught by 13 dedicated training staff. After sales trainee will be taught on the subject of technical simulations, diagnostics, functions and parts system management. Sales trainee on the other hand will go through modules involving soft and hard sales skills.

VPCM Managing Director, Erik Winter said, “The Volkswagen Automotive Academy was established with the mission to achieve excellent standards of quality education and create technical manpower of global standards with the capabilities of facing new challenges in the automotive industry. Having the Academy in place is one of the major steps VPCM is taking to uphold its philosophy to provide value-added, quality services to customers.”
