If the fire-breathing Volkswagen Golf R MK7.5 does not sound as mean as you hope it to be, Volkswagen has the solution for you. They’ve introduced the R-Performance Pack that heightens the drama to another level with an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and a high-performance brake system.
Developed in partnership with Akrapovic, the R-Performance titanium exhaust system is designed to give the Golf R completely new acoustic profile at high revs and gear shifts. Volkswagen claims that its akin to the sounds typically heard in motorsports. Besides the more aggressive aural note, the exhaust system saves seven kilos at the rear axle compared to the standard system. Not to worry though, as the signature quad exhaust design is retained.
After helping the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine exhale better, you might want to have the R-Performance brake system to go along with it. Besides shaving overall weight by 2 kg, additional high-performance brake pads with superior hot braking response ensures that the driver gets consistent bite during track outings. The R-Performance brake system is identifiable by the silver brake calipers with R-lettering.
Considering the sheer amount of Golf R owners opting for aftermarket exhaust systems to their prized ride, perhaps Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) should toy with the idea of bringing in the R-Performance Pack as an option when the Golf MK7 facelift arrives to our shores.
