Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has just added a new variant to the Polo hatchback line-up. Dubbed the Polo ALLSTAR, it commands a RM3,000 premium over the standard Polo 1.6 MPI but you get a RM6,000 worth of exterior and interior aesthetics upgrades.
Visually, the ALLSTAR gets an additional rear spoiler, subtle black door stripes, black trunk garnish and an “ALLSTAR” logo at the B-pillar. Elsewhere it gets the same halogen reflector headlamps, front fog lamps, LED combination taillamps and 15-inch “Riverside” alloys.
Inside, the changes are more apparent with aluminium sports pedals, new leather seats with “ALLSTAR” embroidery, “ALLSTAR” side scuff plates and “ALLSTAR” floor mats. Standard equipment dittos the regular Polo including 5-inch “RCD 330G” touchscreen infotainment with MirrorLink, automatic climate control, rear air vents and cruise control.
Mechanically, the ALLSTAR retains the same 1.6-litre MPI four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox to develop 104 hp and 153 Nm of torque. Official fuel consumption figures are rated at 6.3 litres per 100 km.
On the safety front, the it gets dual front airbags, ABS with brake assist, anti-pinch for all four windows, ISOFIX mounting points and Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS).
The Volkswagen Polo ALLSTAR retails for RM72,888 (OTR without insurance) and comes with a 5-Years manufacturers warranty and 5-Years Roadside Assistance package. Service intervals for the Polo is scheduled at every 15,000 km.
