Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s new RM74 million HQ looks the bomb

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) has just officiated the launch of their new headquarters – Wisma Mercedes-Benz- in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor. The industrial facility is six storeys high and has a collective area of 118,000 sq ft, but wait till you see, in pictures, what it really looks like behind the impressive all-glass façade.

MBM has invested over RM70 million to the facility (leased from Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd) by consolidating their Training Academy – a vital division to the company that was previously separate. In fact, the Training Academy occupies more area than the operations offices (65,000 sq ft versus 53,000 sq ft). This goes to show the company’s priority in grooming the country’s next best automotive talent.

Every apprentice is groomed according to Daimler AG’s Global Training standards, which upon completion will be granted a promising career up the Mercedes-Benz corporate ladder. The building was also accredited as the first green industrial building in Subang Jaya and was awarded a Gold Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). All lighting sources within the building are LEDs, with ample green floras draping along each facet of the building.

But why? To those puzzled, this move is evidence that Malaysia is an important market for the Mercedes-Benz brand. As the country’s leading premium automaker, MBM’s President and CEO, Dr. Claus Weidner said, “Our current position indicates the trust customers have in our vehicles and service quality. This purpose built facility will enable us to consistently provide high levels of service, expertise and reliability to satisfy our customers who expect the highest standards of excellence.”

Here’s a little fun fact to close: of the total volume of cars Mercedes-Benz have sold to date, 35 percent accounts for their hybrid cars. That’s significantly higher than most, if not all markets in Europe, according to Dr. Weidner.
