Following the teaser last month, Honda has recently introduced the all-new Odyssey MPV. TheĀ 2018 model features a wide range of modern connectivity and entertainment capabilities that can easily make it a class leader.
It sits atop a lighter yet more rigid chassis, and the body is now tougher on the whole. Of course, the fascia don’s the company’s signature flying wing front grille that’s connected by the LED lights. The sides receive a lighting bolt beltline that blends with the Odyssey’s sliding doors. At the back, the boot has downward facing sensors that automatically opens when a foot is detected.
Inside, the Odyssey’s Magic slide seats are fitted for the second row instead of the third row, which gives a greater amount of flexibility. It also makes ingress and egress much more convenient, especially for passengers in the third row.
The icing on the cake goes to its suite of modern connectivity and entertainment features that will surely make road trips a lot more fun. TheĀ “In-vehicle Connectivity” now comes with the new Connected Rear Entertainment System.
This application will allow video and music streaming via the ceiling-mounted, 10.2-inch screen. The “how much further” application is available in the system, allowing occupants to track their journey’s progress, just like how you would in an aircraft.
Part of the connectivity systems includeĀ CabinWatch and CabinTalk. The former feeds live visuals toĀ the driver via an 8-inch Display Audio screen, while the latter system helps ‘deliver’ the message across the cabin. This means you won’t have to turn your head to make sure everyone hears you while driving.
Predictably, cars sold in the United States demand hugeĀ power. So, powering the 2018 Honda Odyssey is aĀ 3.5-litre V6 VTEC engine that develops 280 hp, up 32 hp fromĀ the old model. Two transmission choices are available here – a nine-speedĀ and an all-new 10-speed automatic.
