The current BMW 5-Series (F10) will reach the end of its lifecycle after debuting in 2011. Hence, the Bavarians decided to pay a final tribute to its most powerful 5-Series model, the M5, with the unveiling of the BMW M5 Competition.
Production of the M5 Competition will be limited to just 200 units; 100 will be finished in the Carbon Black shade while the remaining half gets Mineral White finishing. All M5 Competition units are to receive aesthetic enhancements, ranging from M-Performance bodykit, gloss-black front grille and 20-inch black alloy rims. Inside, the front head restraints are embroidered with the M5 lettering, and the seats get upholstered in black Merino leather. The dashboard is draped in carbon fibre which comes with the unique serial number. 
But what’s a Competition variant without the extra bang? Under the hood is the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, but here it gets a slight performance boost of 40 hp and 20 Nm, bringing the final output up to 592 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It manages the century sprint in just 3.9 seconds while the top speed, being typical Germans, is electronically limited to 250km/h.
Apart from the engine, the M5 Competition is sharpest handling M5 to date. Attacking the black ribbons is surely a walk in the park for this M5 Competition thanks to lower suspension, stiffer springs and dampers, thicker anti-roll bars and upgrades to the M-specific Dynamic Stability Control.
As we wave goodbye to the F10 version of the M5, be reminded that you may need to part a good £100,995 (approximately RM540k based on today’s conversion rates) from your bank account to buy one of these. The only silver lining? The new 5-Series is on the way, and it’s coming soon!
