Aston Martin’s next-gen hypercar will carry the best of F1 technology

It’s called Project AM-RB 001. It will represent the peak of Aston Martin’s sports car design and the best of Formula One racing technology. And it’s poised to be the ultimate hypercar.

But first, here’s a little prelude before we get going. Red Bull Racing’s (RBR) Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey has always had two goals in life. Since he was six years old, he dreamt of designing his own racing cars, and today he is widely regarded as one of the most successful Formula One car designers of all time. His other dream was to be involved in the process of designing a super car, but because of his commitment in F1, Newey never got to realise this dream – until now.

On the other hand, Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin since 2005, is keener than ever to push the envelope of designing Aston Martins. His work includes the stunning DB11 and Vulcan.

The duo’s partnership gave birth to Project AM-RB 001, a hypercar that will combine all of F1’s aerodynamics and composite technology together with Aston Martin’s design. Unlike in F1, the hypercar will not be bound by FIA regulations, so the blank canvas gives them the opportunity to create a car in its most efficient form that will represent the ultimate fusion of art and technology.

To celebrate this partnership, both RBR’s F1 cars will carry the Aston Martin wings logo throughout this 2016 season. The debut race begins this week at the Australian Grand Prix.
