Special Edition Mazda3 Sport Black launched, but it’s not for us

The Mazda3 is undoubtedly one of Mazda’s core model, so to further boost its appeal and add value to their customers, Mazda went on to introduce a special edition variant called the Mazda3 Sport Black.

Available exclusively for the UK market only, the Sport Black variant can only be had in hatchback form. Features unique to it are 18-inch Dark Gunmetal alloy wheels and the Brilliant Black Sports Styling Kit which comprise of blacked-out side mirrors, front splitter, rear bumper, side skirts and rear spoiler.2016 Mazda3 Sport Black Edition - AutoBuzz.my

Inside, the special edition variant is almost identical to ours, except this gets dual zone climate control, half leather half suede upholstery, Smart City Brake Support and Mazda’s integrated navigation system with 3-years free European map updates. The MZD Connect System also supports internet app integration for your favourite social media accessibility as well as internet radio.

Under the hood is a familiar affair; it’s powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine making 120 hp at 6,000 rpm (tuned lower to meet strict European emissions standard) and 210 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Earlier this year, Mazda UK introduced the diesel variant to the lineup, and it’s powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder lump packing 104 hp and 250 Nm of torque. There’s a more powerful 2.2-litre turbodiesel available too, one that makes 148 hp and 380 Nm of torque!2016 Mazda3 Sport Black Edition - AutoBuzz.my

The good news for UK customers is the Mazda3 Sport Black edition will not command a higher price, but the bad news is there will only be 800 examples made. It can only be had in two exterior colours – Soul Red Metallic or Snowflake White Pearlescent. It’s priced at £20,995, or roughly RM120k based on current foreign exchange rates.
