Mercedes-Benz X-Class: Fancy yourself a luxury pickup truck?

Mercedes-Benz has almost everything in its stable; from passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs, sports cars and even MPVs. Now, the three pointed star is set to widen their portfolio with the addition of a new pickup range which could be called the X-Class.

Mercedes’ new pickup will be a twin-cab variant that sits on the same platform as the Nissan NP300 Navara. It’s unsure as yet if the new pickup will have a Nissan or Mercedes powertrain, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the Stuttgart-based company with their wide range of engines. Let’s just pray for an X63 for now, shall we?mercedes-benz-xclass2

While the design here isn’t confirmed, expect the X-Class to bear Mercedes-Benz’s three-bar grille as seen in the GLE. There aren’t many luxury pickups out there in contention, so the X-Class’ direct rival would be the Volkswagen Amarok.

We’re sure many of you would be excited at the prospects of owning the X-Class, and its introduction will surely give many potential Ford Ranger customers a more luxurious offering. Now, dear readers, what do you think of the X-Class? Is it about time, or is now the perfect time for such a product to capitalise on the growing demand for utility vehicles?
