When Audi Malaysia told us that they’re going on the offensive, they obviously weren’t lying. Just over five months after launching the Audi TT, the hotter 286 hp TTS joins the Mk3 TT lineup, fully kitted and carries a sticker price of RM389,900 – about RM105k more than the regular TT.
If you’re unaware, the Mk2 TTS populating our streets aren’t official imports, so all of those you see on the road are sold by parallel importers. This Mk3 TTS however, is the first ever Audi S model to be officially introduced in Malaysia.

EXTERIOR
Almost all of the exterior styling of the TTS is carried over from the TT, save for some very telling (and compulsory) S enhancements. The grille is now completely finished in chromed and the TT’s front bumper has been swapped out for a more dynamic looking finish. Other notable visual differences are the aluminium-satin side mirrors, 19-inch forged aluminium wheels, TTS badges, unique rear bumper with integrated diffuser and two pairs of dual oval tailpipes.
The LED headlights with LED daytime running lights are standard here, but there’s also a RM5,000 Matrix LED option should you fancy Audi’s high tech illuminating technology. There are eleven exterior colours for you to choose, two of which are exclusive TTS colours – Vegas Yellow and Sepang Blue with pearl effect.
INTERIOR
Inside the TTS is a familiar affair for current TT owners. In short, nothing much is new to the interior, at least they’re not visually distinguishable. For a start, there’s the signature 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit housed behind the leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. The air conditioning vents are identical to that of the TT, and the controls are built right into the dials for a neat finish.
That said, the interior has to be different to warrant the RM100k extra, right? Right you are, dear readers. Standard features inside the cabin of the TTS include power adjustable S sports seats, TTS sports contour steering wheel with paddle shifters, matte brushed aluminium inlays and S-badge scuff plates on both door apertures. But wait, that’s not all. It also comes with a Bang & Olufsen sound system with DVD Drive, 14-channel amplifier and 12 speakers with an output of 680 Watts. Yes, they all come as standard.
PERFORMANCE
Pop the hood and you’ll immediately find the familiar transversely mounted engine. It’s the same 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder block that’s shared with the regular TT, but here it’s tuned to make 286 hp and 380 Nm of torque. That’s just about 56 hp and 10 Nm more than the TT, so what’s there to shout about, right? Now, listen up. Much of the engine is tweaked for it to produce such numbers, but whether or not it’s significant to you is a topic for another day.
This direct injected engine gets several recalibrated components comprised of reinforced aluminium pistons, connecting rods, bearings and crankcases. Also, a larger turbocharger is fitted with maximum boost pressure rated of 1.2 bar, and this is complemented with with a high performance air-to-air intercooler for rapid engine cooling. All these upgrades translate to a blistering 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 4.7 seconds (that’s a full 1.2 seconds faster than the normal TT), yet it’s capable of returning a fuel economy of 6.9 litres per 100km. Yeah, don’t bother going green with this machine. Like other German makes, the TTS has its top speed electronically capped at 250 km/h for obvious safety reasons.
Another feature shared between the TT and the TTS is the five driving modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual. It also comes with the automatic rear spoiler that sits flush when you’re cruising below 120 km/h, but pops open once you exceed that threshold for increased aerodynamics. The six-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox remains as is, but drive is now sent to all four wheels via Audi’s quattro AWD system.
WHAT ELSE?
The TTS is fitted with six airbags on top of the usual three-lettered acronyms of safety features. According to Audi Malaysia’s Head of Corporate Comms, Isaac Lee Mathews, the introduction of the Audi TTS is just the beginning of bigger things to come, so we can certainly expect some official red hot RS models to brawl against BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But for now, the TTS can be yours for RM389,900 and is available at all authorised Audi dealerships nationwide.
