Toll rates to increase effective Thursday, between 20 sen to RM3.00



Let’s start with the good news. The toll rate hike that will take into effect this Thursday (15 October 2015) doesn’t involve all highways, but selected major highways within the Klang Valley. Talks of increasing toll rates have been ongoing for several months, but the latest development to come out of it confirms a hike of between 20 sen to RM3.

Now for the bad news. Highways involved in this hike are the Kajang SILK, DUKE, MEX, Karak, Latar, SMART Tunnel, NPE, Besraya Highway, Lekas, Guthrie Corridor Expressway, LKSA and Akleh. We’ve compiled a table for the new rates for Class 1 vehicles:

The Edge Markets reported that shares in SILK Holdings Bhd have soared to a seven-month high today, jumping as much as 8 sen or 16.67 percent following the announcement of its toll hike rate. “Some 1.97 million shares were traded between 48 sen and 56 sen. At its current price, its market value stands at RM340.24 million,” reads the report.
