Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of the brand Peugeot in Malaysia, has announced the arrival of the limited-run Peugeot 208 S. This pretty French hatch is priced RM1,000 more than the regular 208 VTi, and all you’re getting for that extra bit of dough are cosmetic enhancements on the outside.

So what do you get besides the obvious red and black stripes smacked around the car? If we were to be frank, not much, really, but you do get a blacked out side mirror with red accents, a sportier grille taken from the 3-door VTi model and a red-accented front lip. At the back, you get the model’s exclusive rear spoiler finished in gloss black, and like the rest of the car’s dual-tone theme, it gets highlighted in red.

That’s practically it for RM1,000. Under the hood beats the same old 1.6-litre naturally aspirated VTi engine, one that makes 120 hp at 6,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm, paired to a four-speed ZF automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels.

The kit list remains the same as the 208 VTi 5-door, because that’s the model it’s based on. Its road-going price is RM86,888 with insurance, and the 208 S is available in one colour – Digital White – only.

This particular unit (below) is wrapped in yellow vinyl, a test drive unit at Peugeot Blue Box showroom in Glenmarie. Yup, no idea why too.

As part of Peugeot Malaysia’s Chinese New Year promotion, every purchase of the 208 S (and all other Peugeot models for that matter) comes with a complimentary iPhone 6. Yes, a free iPhone.

It also comes with a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage, together with Nasim’s 24-hour Peugeot Assistance service, complimentary access to the Peugeot Lounge at Subang Airport and Peugeot Privilege membership.
