Ford Fiesta ST now available for RM150k: 1.6-litre turbo, 6-spd manual only

The Ford Fiesta ST is finally here, long after a year since it was previewed at the 2013 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS). It’s a hot hatch many hard-to-please motoring journalists have a soft spot for, and we’re more than pleased to know that the prodigious pocket rocket is only available with a six-speed stick shifter.

Let’s get straight to the point, shall we? The Fiesta ST can only be had in one configuration – three-door, three pedals, six-speed manual, zingy 1.6-litre direct injected turbocharged engine, 17-inch wheels wrapped with 205/40 R17 series rubbers and ST sports suspension setup.

The hot hatch is fully imported from Germany, and to distinguish it from the regular Fiestas, the ST comes equipped with halogen projector headlights, sportier front and rear bumpers, integrated rear spoiler, twin exhaust pipes, Recaro fabric bucket seats and an ST badge on the bottom of the steering wheel.

As mentioned, the Fiesta ST is powered by Ford’s trusty 1.6-litre GTDi EcoBoost engine that makes 180 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 240 Nm (290 Nm with overboost) of torque from 1,600 to 5,000 revolutions. Paired with the six-speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels, the hatch sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds while returning a fuel consumption rating of 5.9 litres per 100 km.

Priced at RM149,888 with insurance, the Fiesta ST comes in three colours – signature Molten Orange, Spirit Blue and Panther Black and a three-year or 100,000km warranty programme (whichever comes first) and Ford’s Extended Service Plan. Click HERE to visit Ford’s Fiesta ST webpage.
