The 308 GT has been mildly tuned to deliver a greater driving experience with a tweaked suspension that’s stiffer by up to 20%. Stopping power is provided by the 330 mm front brakes and at the back the discs are 265 mm in the 308 GT and 290 mm in the 308 GT SW.

To set the 308 GT apart from the lesser variants, it gets its own distinctive styling tweaks outside and a smattering of GT badges here and there. At the front, the GT gets its own front bumper with lower side intakes and the lion on the bonnet has migrated into the 3-bar grille. LED headlamps are standard, and the GT gains a new dynamic sequential indicators that sit on top of the mentioned lower side intakes on the bumper.

The side mirror housings are finished in lacquered black, and lower down there’s a very subtle side skirt. At the back, the bumper gains a diffuser finished in lacquered black and a pair of chrome tailpipes. The 308 GT sits 7mm lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the back compared to the standard 308, and rides on 18-inch Diamant wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 rubbers.

TEP / Alcantara upholstery is standard for the 308 GT’s interior, but buyers can choose the optional Club Nappa leather as well. The roof lining and pillars are finished in anthracite, while red stitching can be found everywhere from the dashboard to the floor mats. Stainless steel door sills and aluminium pedals are included in the 308 GT too.

The 308 GT might not be setting its sights on the Golf GTi due to its marginally lower power output but it should serve to those who want more from the standard 308. We’re still waiting for the 308 to be launched here in Malaysia so don’t keep your hopes too high for the 308 GT to arrive in our shores anytime soon, but you can expect the 308 GT to debut at the upcoming Paris motorshow in October.
