Toyota Camry 2.5 V will get Toyota Safety Sense, est. RM189,900



Shortly after teasing the imminent launch of the all-new Toyota Camry, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has just announced that the order books are now open along with pricing and specification of the new model.

UMWT only listed one variant of the eight-generation Camry on their website – the fully loaded 2.5 V. Powered by the familiar 2AR-FE 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with DVVT-i and six-speed automatic powertrain carried over from the previous-generation model. The engine is good for 184 hp and 235 Nm of twist to drive the front wheels.

As for exterior equipment, our local spec Camry 2.5 V gets Bi-LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED front & rear fog lamps, full LED taillamps, keyless entry & start, dual exhaust outlets as well as 18-inch alloys wrapped in 235/45 profile tyres.

Inside the new Camry spots an all-black theme with leather upholstery, eight-way powered adjusted front seats with memory function for driver’s seat, 7.0-inch colour MID instrument cluster display with Optitron Meter, 10-inch colour Heads-Up Display, powered adjustable steering wheel with memory function, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system connected to nine JBL speakers, wireless charging tray and more.

UMWT has equipped their flagship sedan with a comprehensive list of safety features including Toyota Safety Sense Advanced Driver Assistance System that bundles Pre-collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).

Other standard safety kit includes seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, front & rear parking sensors and a Digital Video Recorder (dash camera).

There are five exterior colours to choose from – Red Mica, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Silver Metallic, Graphite Metallic and Burning Black. The all-new Toyota Camry 2.5 V is estimated to be priced at RM189,900, on-the-road without insurance. However, expect UMWT to introduce a 2.0-litre entry level variant when the car is due for its official launch.
