Ford Ranger 2.2L Wildtrak launched, with features from the 3.2L model

Sime Darby Auto Connexion, the sole distributor of Ford in Malaysia, is now offering the Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L at RM 127,888 for Peninsula Malaysia and RM133,888 for East Malaysia; both on-the-road prices without insurance.

The 2.2-litre Ranger Wildtrak now gets Ford’s latest SYNC 3 in-car connectivity system through an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other noteworthy additions to the 2.2-litre Ranger Wildtrak includes a 240V power socket in the back seat, a feature we found to be the most interesting addition to a car since the introduction of air-conditioning.

More notably, it’s not just a Ranger dressed up in Wildtrak clothings; it now gets the full suite of safety systems that previously was only exclusive to the 3.2-litre model. The 2.2-litre Wildtrak now gets the Adaptive Cruise Control treatment, along with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Aid, Forward Collision Alert and Mitigation by Brakes, Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Launch Assist and Hill Descent Control.

The Wildtrak now also gets six airbags – front, side and curtain airbags – instead of the miserable two available in the 2.2 XLT. The rest of the interior, such as upholstery and trims are similar to the 3.2-litre Wildtrak variant.

The Ranger Wildtrak is powered by the 2.2-litre turbocharged Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel engine with an output of 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L is available in three colours – Cool White, Pride Orange and Shadow Black – and comes with an early bird offer of 2-years/40,000km (whichever comes first) free service and maintenance. The same offer is now also available for the Wildtrak 3.2L variant.
