BMW Malaysia teases all-new BMW X2 on website, 2.0L petrol with M Sport?

Well, what do we have here, shortly after the global premiere of the BMW X2, BMW Malaysia is now accepting registrations of interest for the all-new Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) on its official website.

On the microsite, BMW Malaysia hints at a sole sDrive20i guise. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol delivers 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, sending drive to the front-wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.9 L/100 km. Internationally, the X2 can be had with diesel options and all-wheel drive.

The website also suggests that the Malaysian market will receive the Misano Blue and Galcanic Gold exterior colour option as well as Dakota leather in Magma Red. It appears that the X2 will be available with the M Sport Package, adding M Aerodynamics exterior pack, 19-inch M light-weight alloy wheels, lowered M Suspension (-10 mm) and M Sport interior.

Elsewhere, the X2 is marginally leaner than the X1 – the car it’s based on, measuring 4,360 mm in length, 1,824 mm in width, 1,526 mm in height with an identical wheelbase of 2,670 mm. Despite the sleeker profile, BMW claims that the X2 offers great comfort for all passengers. Boot space is rated at 470 litres, 35 litres smaller than the X1.

Market launch is scheduled for March 2018 with Europe-markets getting first dibs. But for BMW Malaysia to collect registration of interest this early in the timeline suggests that we might see it as soon as our European counterparts.
