AM-RB 001 gets official name – Aston Martin Valkyrie, 6.5L V12! [+Video]

The AM-RB 001 hypercar jointly developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing has finally received a new name called the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Has a nice ring too, doesn’t it?

According to Norse mythology, a valkyrie is a female spirit who is also the “chooser of the fallen”. It also starts with the letter V, which you should know by now is typical of Aston Martin – the Vantage, Vanquish, Virage, Volante, Vulcan… catching my drift yet?

Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman said, “Aston Martin model names have deep meaning. They need to inspire and excite. The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly special car that demands an equally remarkable name; an uncompromising car that leaves nothing in reserve.

The connotations of power and honour, of being chosen by the Gods are so evocative and so pertinent to a car that only a fortunate few will ever experience,” he added.

Just a few weeks ago, Aston Martin confirmed that the Valkyrie will get a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 specially commissioned by Cosworth. It will be paired to a devastatingly quick seven-speed paddle shift transmission and will get state-of-the-art hybrid technology derived straight from Formula One. It will be out by 2019, so be prepared, Holy Trinity. This British brute is gonna slay.
