Honda Civic sales up by 265%, leads C-Segment with 68% market share!

The 10th-generation Honda Civic is arguably one of the hottest cars of 2016, and the sentiment is proved by the incredible number of cars sold to date.

According to data released by Honda Malaysia, sales of the Civic FC account for a whopping 68 percent of the C-Segment, making it the segment leader in the short period of six months. More interestingly, the company nearly tripled the Civic’s sales volume – a huge 265 percent jump over the same period in 2015.

This is achieved largely by the car’s striking good looks and arsenal of equipment such as remote engine start, keyless entry and start, eight-way powered driver’s seat, rear air vents, six airbags, electric parking brake with auto hold, hill-start assist and VSA.

Our short stint with the range topping Civic 1.5TC-P left a very lasting impression, and it’s no wonder that the car is off to a sailing start. Having said that, competition is slowly creeping, such as the Hyundai Ioniq and it won’t take long before the equally stunning Hyundai Elantra hits our shores (psst, it may even come with a turbo!).
