For the unfamiliar, the Volkswagen Tayron is essentially the replacement for the outgoing Tiguan Allspace, and as such, the Tayron interior locally is configured as a seven-seater in a 2-3-2 seating layout.

It has also had a growth spurt, with the Volkswagen Tayron measuring in at 4,792 mm long, 1,853 mm wide, 1,668 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. This makes it 253 mm longer, 11 mm wider and 29 mm taller, while its wheelbase is extended by 114 mm compared to the Tiguan Allspace.

On the Elegance variant, the Volkswagen Tayron is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder eTSI 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain that makes 150 hp and 250 Nm to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic transmission. This allows for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.6 seconds, with a WLTP-rated fuel consumption rating of 6.1L/100 km.

The yet-to-be-launched R-Line variant will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 265 hp and 400 Nm. These are sent to an all-wheel drive setup, which enables a century sprint in 6.1 seconds, though it comes with a slightly worse fuel consumption at 8.5L/100 km (WLTP).
