Pro-Net (Proton New Energy Technology), the new energy subsidiary of national carmaker Proton, has announced that the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as Proton e.MAS 5) will be going on a nationwide tour, dubbed the “Misi 5 Tour”, beginning from August to October 2025.
Riffing off the model’s name, the national carmaker’s second fully electric (EV) model will be making its way through five main regions in the country, consisting of central, northern, southern, east coast, and east Malaysia. Details are as such:
- Central
- Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (8th to 10th August and 15th to 17th August)
- Northern
- Penang, Perak, Kedah (21st to 25th August)
- East Coast
- Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan (4th to 8th September)
- Southern
- Johor (13th to 15th September)
- Negeri Sembilan, Melaka (20th to 21st September)
- East Malaysia
- Sarawak (25th to 28th September)
- Sabah (3rd to 5th October)
Pro-Net says the car will be previewed at selected tourist spots and at Proton e.MAS dealerships across the aforementioned 13 states. The goal is to have Malaysians experience the eMAS 5 firsthand, ahead of its official launch later this year.
The campaign will kick off in the Central region, and will be previewed at iconic landmarks in the Klang Valley, including Batu Caves, Putra Mosque, Central Market, KLCC, and Saloma Bridge on the 15th of August. Additionally, the car will also be making stops at Proton eMAS dealerships for people to get up close in a showroom setting.
Pro-Net Cheif Executive Officer, Zhang Qiang, said, “The Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) is already the best-selling EV in Malaysia to date, and we believe the best way to build trust and momentum with our soon-to-be-launched Proton eMAS 5, is through hands-on experience.
With the Misi 5 Tour, Malaysians will get the chance to see the Proton eMAS 5 up close, learn more about the car from product experts, as well as meet popular influencers. The Proton eMAS 5 is designed to meet the needs of young urban starters, families, and first-time EV drivers, and Misi 5 lets us connect with those people, region by region,” he added.

While the car going on tour will most likely be fully camouflaged, much like its elder sibling during its pre-launch tour. Proton has however revealed that the car will feature pre-cooling and real-time charge planning. Additionally, the press release also teases a charging time to 80% in “less than a lunch break”, likely under 30 minutes, and hinted at the inclusion of automatic stop-and-go ADAS to help drivers “glide through city traffic stress-free”.
It’s no secret that the upcoming Proton eMAS 5 will be based on the Geely Xingyuan (a.k.a Star Wish) from China, where it’s offered with two lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery options: a 30.12 kWh battery with up to 310 km of CLTC range, and a 40.16 kWh battery offering up to 410 km. The smaller battery powers a 79 hp and 130 Nm front-mounted motor, while the larger variant gets a more powerful 116 hp and 150 Nm motor.
Inside, the car features a 10.1-inch central infotainment display and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster as standard, while higher-end variants are treated to a larger 14.6-inch central infotainment display. Other features include a 540-degree surround view camera, six airbags, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), although we will have to wait a little longer to find out how many of these make their way into the Malaysian Proton-branded model.
