MG Motor Malaysia has launched the 2025 fully electric MG S5 EV today. The EV crossover is priced from RM115,900 on-the-road, without insurance, and is available in three variants.

Dimension-wise, the MG S5 EV measures 4,476 mm long, 1,849 mm wide, and 1,621 mm tall, with a 2,730 mm wheelbase. This makes it comparable in size to the Proton eMAS 7 and the BYD Atto 3, which the EV crossover will compete against in the same C-segment SUV category.
While the Proton and BYD sport minimalist exterior designs, the MG S5 EV differs from the two with a more aggressive and sculpted design. This design is characterised by its belt line, which gradually shapes into a sculpted element on the tailgate that resembles a ducktail spoiler above the full-width taillights.

Stepping inside the cabin of the MG S5 EV, there is a floating style 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10.25-inch driver’s digital gauge cluster.
Gear selection in the MG S5 EV is done via a rotary dial on the centre console with a large cutout at the bottom for storage spaces. Boot space in the MG S5 EV is rated at 453 litres and can be expanded to 1,441 litres with the rear seats folded.

Powering the MG S5 EV is a rear-mounted electric motor that makes 170 hp (125 kW) and 250 Nm. Two battery packs are available for the Com variant. These are either a 49 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) unit providing a range of 340 km (WLTP), or a larger 62 kWh LFP pack extending the range to 430 km (WLTP). The Lux variant is exclusively available with the 62 kWh LFP battery pack.
For charging specifications, both 49 kWh and 62 kWh battery packs support AC charging at 6.6 kW. For DC charging, the smaller 49 kWh battery pack supports 120 kW, which enables a 10-80% charge in 24 minutes. The larger 62 kWh battery pack supports faster DC charging at 150 kW, but its 10-80% charge time is slightly longer at 26 minutes.
The MG S5 EV is equipped with seven airbags and a reverse camera as standard, whereas the Lux Long Range variant gets a 360-degree surround view camera. As standard, the MG S5 EV is equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance features that is based around an 8MP front camera and two millimetre-wave radars. These ADAS features include:

- Lane departure warning (LDW)
- Lane keep assist (LKA)

The MG S5 EV is priced from RM115,900 and is available in three variants. Five colours are available, they are Camden Grey, Arctic White, Monument Silver, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte. The latter colour is only available exclusively for the Lux Long Range variant.
Included in the price is a seven-year or 150,000 km mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 180,000 km high-voltage battery warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km drive motor and motor control unit warranty. Customers who purchase a MG S5 EV will also receive up to RM6,000 rebate and a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox charger, excluding installation. The offer is limited to the first 500 customers.
