Chery Sales Indonesia has sold 8,626 cars in Indonesia throughout 2024 year. Perhaps surprisingly, the main contributor to that number last year is the electrified version of the Chery Omoda 5, the Chery Omoda E5 electric vehicle (EV).
Debuting in Indonesia in February 2024, the EV has accounted for 51% of the Chinese carmaker’s total car sales in the country. Of the 4,421 Chery Omoda E5 sold, 90% of them are the highest variant.
According to AutonetMagz.com, The Chery Omoda E5’s bestseller status is likely made possible through Chery Indonesia’s Go Green Fund program, a fund allocation of IDR100 billion (approx. RM27 million) that gives buyers a subsidy of IDR50 million (approx. RM13.6k) when they trade in their old petrol cars for the Omoda E5.
To date, the Go Green Fund program has realised some IDR30 billion (approx. RM8.1 million) in subsidies, and a total of 617 cars have been traded in for the EV.

Here in Malaysia, the Chery Omoda E5 is available in a single variant, priced from RM146,818. It’s a front-wheel-drive EV with a single motor setup offering 204 hp and 340 Nm of torque, powered by a 61 kWh battery pack with a 340 km (WLTP) range. Charging is rated at 9.9 kW for AC power, and 80 kW using a DC fast charger.
