2024 Chery Omoda E5 open for bookings in Malaysia, RM160k estimated price

Set to be launched in March this year, the all-electric Chery Omoda E5 is now open for bookings in Malaysia with an estimated price tag of RM160,000. Interested customers may also take a closer look at the Omoda E5 at Chery showrooms nationwide starting February 24, 2024.

As announced before, the Chery Omoda E5 will only be available in one variant for the Malaysian market. It is based on the existing petrol Chery Omoda in Malaysia and rivals the likes of the BYD Atto 3 in the market of entry-level electric cars.

This single variant is capable of a WLTP range of 430 km thanks to a 61-kWh capacity battery pack. The battery can be charged at a maximum AC charging rate of 9.9 kW and a maximum DC charging rate of 80 kW. Chery says that it only takes 30 minutes for the E5 to charge from 30% to 80% with DC charging.

As for performance, the Chery Omoda E5 outputs 201 hp and 340 Nm from a single electric motor setup. Driving is also made safer thanks to an ADAS 2.5 system which integrates advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and connectivity features, redefining the driving experience and establishing a new standard for advanced driver assistance systems in the electric vehicle market.

In terms of appearance, the Chery Omoda E5 tweaks the petrol Omoda’s looks with a closed-off front panel and some EV-inspired design. Inside, the Chery Omoda E5 features two floating 10.25-inch screens acting as the instrument display and the infotainment head unit. Its dashboard has received a redesign, with a touch-screen console replacing the touch-panel climate control panel.
