The Chery Omoda E5 all-electric SUV was just previewed at a press event in Malaysia late last month, and now, registration of interest (ROI) for the car has been opened. Interested customers may head to Chery Malaysia’s official website to register their interests by providing details such as name, contact number, email, and preferred dealer.
The Chery Omoda E5 is essentially the electric vehicle (EV) counterpart to the petrol-powered Omoda 5, which is currently sold in Malaysia. Up front, the Omoda E5 sports a new front fascia without a central intake grille, along with a front-mounted charging port.

Also included on the outside of the Chery Omoda E5 are automatic cooling shutters up front, and a new set of 18-inch aerodynamic-focused wheels.
Powering the Chery Omoda E5 is a single motor setup that sends 150 kW (204 hp) to the front wheels. Thanks to a 61 kWh blade lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack, the Omoda E5 is capable of travelling up to 430 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

When the Omoda E5 runs out of juice, charging can be done via AC charging at a maximum rate of 9.9 kW. It can also handle fast charging at a maximum rate of 80 kW using DC fast charging, which can juice the car up from 30 to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Inside, the Chery Omoda E5 sports two floating 10.25-inch screens acting as the instrument display and the infotainment head unit. Its dashboard has also been redesigned, with its touch-panel climate control panel being replaced by a touch-screen console. Also equipped within the Omoda E5 is the Qualcomm 8155 chip which promises smoother operation, especially on the screen.

Safety-wise, the Chery Omoda E5 is fitted with the “ADAS 2.5” advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This system is slightly more advanced than the one seen in the regular Omoda 5, with the addition of a driver monitoring system.
Pricing information for the Chery Omoda E5 has yet to be announced for Malaysia just yet. Said to be offered in a sole variant, for now, the official launch for the car is scheduled for March 2024.
