BYD expands footprint in Malaysia with new outlets in Putrajaya and Ipoh

Sime Darby Beyond Auto, the sole distributor for BYD vehicles here in Malaysia, has opened the doors to two new showrooms for the Chinese EV marque here on our shores, bringing its total outlets in the nation up to 14 locations, as it works towards 20 outlets by the end of 2024.

The first of the two outlets is located in IOI City Mall in Putrajaya, BYD’s first mall-concept showroom in Klang Valley. Operated by its dealer-partner Millennium Autobeyond, the new BYD Putrajaya showroom will occupy a space of 1,299 sq ft on the ground floor of the shopping mall to showcase the marque’s latest models in a unique and convenient location.

Additionally, the new 1S centre will also feature the brand’s first outdoor concept delivery bay to enhance the vehicle handover experience. BYD Putrajaya is open from 10 AM to 10 PM daily.

Aside from the Putrajaya outlet, BYD Sime Darby Beyond Auto and its dealer-partner Goh Brothers Group are also now welcoming customers to its latest 2S centre in Ipoh, Perak – or more accurately, a new showroom, plus a separate service centre tied under the same branch.

Located in the “business centre of Ipoh”, the new 4,000 sq ft two-storey BYD showroom will be a convenient location for locals to experience BYD’s latest range of EVs. As for the service centre, the outlet located approximately 6 km away features four service bays, two commercial chargers, as well as a customer lounge for customers to relax while waiting for their cars to be serviced.

The new BYD Ipoh showroom is located at 1, Jalan Niaga Simee 1, Pusat Perniagaan Simee, 31400 Ipoh, Perak, and operates from 9 AM to 6 PM Mondays through Saturday, and 10 AM to 5 PM on Sundays and Public Holidays.

The BYD Ipoh service centre meanwhile is located at Lot 3439N, Jalan Marmar, Off Jalan Kuala Kangsar, 30010 Ipoh, Perak. It is open from 9 AM to 6 PM on Mondays through Saturday, and closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. For more information or service appointments, they can be contacted at +605 215 0030.

Speaking on the launch of the two new outlets, Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia Managing Director, Jeffrey Gan said, “Our expanding presence in Malaysia aims to make it easier for everyone to experience BYD’s EV technology. We have carefully selected strong partners and are confident that our customers will enjoy the best buying experience and receive the highest quality of after-sales service.”

The company recently unveiled the BYD Dolphin here in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM100,530 for the entry-level Dynamic variant. BYD will also be launching the Seal sedan here on our shores before the year-end – the model was first teased in Malaysia during the launch of the Atto 3 last year.
