In a recent interview with Bloomberg, it was revealed that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will launch 2 new electric vehicles (EVs) in the country in Q4 2023. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is also targeting to go fully electric by 2030. Currently, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s EVs already make up 30% of the entire lineup. Judging by what’s not yet available, it could be the EQS SUV and EQE SUV. On a side note, registration of interest (ROI) for the EQE SUV has been open since June 2023.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia currently offers almost the entire EQ range in the country with models like the EQA, EQB, EQC, EQE, and EQS. The latest to join the company’s EV lineup are two Mercedes-AMG EVs, namely the EQS 53 and EQE 53. Yet to join the EQ lineup in Malaysia are the EQE SUV and EQS SUV.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz EVs in Malaysia have surged by 200% in the first half of the year, albeit from a low base. The company’s EV growth in Malaysia surpasses the global growth of 120%.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice president, Bettina Plangger said in an interview with Bloomberg last week, “People are increasingly interested in EV vehicles, while others are coming into the market. There is big demand (for EVs). We are very optimistic that we can reach this target for Malaysia.”
Commenting on the emergence of more affordable EVs in Malaysia, Plangger said, “At the end, it’s not about price, but what can you offer your customers for that price. That is value. We go for the best technology, and we want to give our customers the best customer experience.”

One of the major milestones for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is the local assembly of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4MATIC in Pekan. Launched in February 2023, the EQS 500 4MATIC fetches a price of RM648,888. It replaces the EQS 450+ which was fully imported (CBU) from Germany. In its electrification efforts, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has begun working with Gentari and EV Connection to expand the EV charging network in Malaysia.
No information has been revealed on what the upcoming EVs by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will be, but one of them is most likely the EQE SUV as Registration of Interest (ROI) has been open since June. As for the other model, it could be the EQS SUV as it recently debuted at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023
